I hope this is the right section, I wasn't sure where I should post it.
I went to the Ekka last Saturday as I was showing my Weimaraner there. I went to the bird pavillion and had a look at the birds but couldn't find a Sun Conure.
So, my question: What's involved in showing a bird and how do I know that Stromy is a good example of the species? Does anyone on here show their birds?
Thank you!

I have wondered that too OA (sorry for the shortening of the name) ;D I do know there are standards.....but as to what else is involved I have no idea. I know what is involved with dogs (having showed them when a kid and then as an adult) and with cats too as my parents showed and bred german shepherds and long haired cats.
Hey how did you go at the ekka with your dog??? I know a guy from up here who might be at the ekka. He was toying with doing a specialty show though instead (he has staffies and if you know staffies then I am sure you would have heard of this guys name).

Quentin got 2nd in breed for his age class (Intermediate) which is alright. It was a pretty sliipery floor and his feet always slipped away during the stand. I'm sure there would be somebody on here who shows birds? I really think I might give it a go.

The African Lovebird and Foreign Parrot Society in Brisbane is the one in SE Queensland that is into showing birds, along with the species specific Budgie Societies and the Cockatiel Society. alsq.org.au/index.htmlThere is an introductory article about showing on their web site. cheers, Mike
