Hi, I'm Ebony from Toowoomba Qld and I do not own a bird, yet. I am very interested in getting a conure, either green cheek or sun, or possibly a quaker parrot. Just here to find out any other information I can about these birds and also different species that I might be interested in. Eb

Haha yeah, we're pretty famous now. My house and family were all ok, just certain lower areas of toowoomba got flooded really bad, like the center of town so alot of the shops are closed for the moment. The pet shop I work at got flooded but we got all the animals out, so I'm not affected too badly but I've been volenteering to help clean up at different places and there is ALOT of shops and all their stock ruined. Oh ok cool, yeah I'm kind of tossing up between the GCC's and Quakers at the moment. But I might just go look at them at the breeder's and see which I fall for.

Ahhh I think i know which pet shop you mean ......... we visited Toowoomba many times when one of our daughters played volleyball and the comps were at Harristown High. I can't remember which street the pet shop was in but it was on the northern part of the main area. There was another shop sort of up the raod from Harristown High also.....but I assume that area was ok from the floods.

It looks like you had about a metre of water through the shop during the flood - looks a mess from the photos on Facebook. How has the clean up gone - are you open for business yet? www.facebook.com/pages/Pets-Galore/119009518159780?v=wallAnd an aerial photo of the shop a couple of days after the flood - the grey roofed building with the pink elephant on the roof visible - along with the white roofed building to the left towards the green containers (that area with the mud is visible in one of the Facebook photos) www.abovephotography.com.au/maps/brisbane/BN-0183695.jpg I used to know Nicole and Neal Bourne when I was involved with the pet industry body in Queensland up until about 6 years ago - can you say hi to them from Mike Owen, Mooloolaba Aquarium & Aviary Centre (now closed), and give them my commiserations. I never had to worry about flood in my shop, but always had a concern at the back of my mind about fire in a pet shop. But then I would have never worried about a flood at Pets Galore either! cheers, Mike

Hi and welcome. I'm new here and also from Toowoomba. I have owned a rainbow Lori for a couple of months now, and her antics still surprise and make me laugh . I am considering another bird, was looking at the sun conures, the ones I have seen all seem to have character heh Hope you find these forums as helpful as I have.
