our major mitchell frank is only seven weeks old and still being hand fed by myself or my wife occasionally. frank is very good at letting us know most times when he needs to go. when he does we place him back on a folded down side of the cage we currently have and he does what he needs to do. my thoughts are is that once he becomes self mobile and out and about around the house is there a way of getting him to go back to his cage / designated area for those little needs he will have? i know that there will be mess's to clean occasionally.

just keep putting him back into his cage and tell him "go toilet" or whatever you want to tell him to let him know ........ it will take a while but when he does do it even if it was not intentional make a huge fuss over him. I had actually toilet trained my female eclectus when she was a house pet.......and it took a while of me saying "do a yuk" and she did eventually do it on cue ....... whether it was intentional or not I made one hell of a fuss over her.........and got so excited I had my husband come and watch (we had to wait about 10 to 15 mins before she might have wanted to go again) ........ but when she did it again after me asking her ........ we ALL made a fuss over her. lol
I wasn't too strict though but most of the time if I asked her on a regular basis to "do a yuk" she would do a "yuk" lol Sometimes I think it is a case of "us" being trained to remember to ask them to go to the toilet on a regular basis.......at least initially anyway.

We are praising frank every time we put him back on his cage and he does what he needs to do. its been 3 days since an accident. But that was my fault not franks as i fell asleep on the lounge with him on my chest. My wife heard him talking but it was not until he got a lot louder that she came to see what the fuss was about. my wife placed him back at his cage and he did what he needed to do. but as for me i needed a clean shirt. So we will persist with the praise and treats and to be honest i dont really see a major problem in the future as Frank has been more than willing not to make unwanted mess. Its almost like he has a clean freak compulsion in him
