Hi I'm looking for an Aussie bird forum to become an active member on. When I searched fir one this site came up & as a bonus I got a pop up message I could use my Proboard Forum App for iPhones here. But I can't find this forum on the list within the App. I seldom sign on to forums using a PC, but always do so from my iPhone. It's really awkward participating on a forum, without using the App and wonder if you would consider activating the App. Users like me buy the App, but from what I understand it's free for forum owners to get & install the plugin. With today's mobile generation, it gives a forum an advantage IMOP. I hope you'll give it some thought, as visiting forums on phones without a forum App isn't too much fun Thanks for reading.

There is an app for Proboards forums but only for iPhone at the moment. You need to go to the App store and search for Proboards. There is a free version and a paid version. You will need the paid version if you want to reply to topics. You need to download the app, open it, press the + at the top right, type in the name of this forum then press go. Hope it works. I haven't got an iphone to check it on yet ;D

Thanks for reply. I already have the paid for version of proboards iPhone App & use it for other forums. But Aussie Birds is not appearing in the App as one of the Proboards forums available. Could it be you don't have the latest plugin installed at the forum end? If you are on the Apps list, then what I do is login via the App, but as this forum is not on the list within the App, I can't login that way.
If you think it should be working, then what I might do is ask The App developer to investigate the issue. I think I might just do that now anyway, because maybe there is an error somewhere

Thanks. I've already put in a query on the Proboards iPhone support forum. But as it stands now, this forum isn't on the Proboard list of forums that are part of the mobile experience. Or maybe it is, but the have it under different name. ATM, I don't have a PC at home & work doesn't appreciate us using their Internet for personal, so I'm stuck with the iPhone. It's just too hard using a forum with a web browser on a phone. If you were using the iPhone for this, you'd know what I mean

I'm pretty much convinced it's a Proboard App problem. Still waiting on them to get back to me, but not only is Aussie birds not pre listed, when I use the + button to add this site, it tells me the forum is temporarily closed. Now, I know that's NOT true, cause here I am making a post LOL

Thanks all. Got it working now. Apparently you don't type in the full URL, though the on screen prompt makes it look as though you do. I'm a happy camper now. Before, my fat clumsy fingers kept hitting on links & stuff I didn't mean. Thanks again

Oh cool. I'll have to get that app when I get my iphone in the next couple of months ;D yes, do that. It's so much easier. It's just not all that intuitive to add new forums. On the screen where you do it, they give an example which makes you think you need to input the whole URL, but you don't. If you get it, I can help you if you have the same dumbo moments I did getting it to work. Another good forum App, which has a version for other smartphones (not just iPhone) is Tapatalk. It's not for a Proboard forum though, but works on a lot of forums out there.

Thank you, I'll let you know if I get stuck when I get it ;D I have tapatalk on my current phone but I hate using this phone for internet stuff so haven't really tried it out yet. I prefer Tapatalk, but it only works on forums where the forum owner has installed the free Tapatalk plugin. I don't think it would be available on a Proboard forum, so that's why I bought this 2nd forum App. Even with the largish iPhone screen, I hated doing forum stuff on my phone. That's why I was so persistent here looking for a solution. I knew if I couldn't get the App working here, I'd gradually stop posting because it's just too hard. If you haven't tried Tapatalk out, then you will be surprised at the difference it makes to using your phone to access & reply to threads on forums.

So you got iPhone 4. I think you'll love it. I have one more year on contract with 3Gs. Apple are brilliant with customer service. I was having hardware issues & found out 4pm YESTERDAY that my warranty expired at midnight YESTERDAY. I rushed to the Sydney Apple store (open till 8pm). Met with their tech people at 6.20pm & left the store with a brand new, fresh out of the pack, 3Gs. That wouldn't have happened with a faulty Nokia I bet.
Anyway, back to the Proboard App. You'll get the hang of it. But compare how cumbersome to use safari on iPhone for the forum, then switch to the App.
Tapatalk is a better forum App IMO, but it doesn't work here & Proboards App is still pretty good.
Anyway, I'm jealous of your iPhone 4. Have fun with it and the Apps. I always say my 3Gs is my fav toy & personal organiser & sometimes it even makes phone calls.

Oh yeah I LOVE it! ;D There are some amazing apps. One of the things I love is that I can change the font size and it is so much easier to read than any other I looked at. I'm visually impaired so it's quite difficult to read things on a lot of phones. Yeah I checked out the forum with Safari and the PB app is so much easier to use and read. I'm not much into playing games but I did get Solitaire and a Yahtzee lol. I'm also a huge music lover so now my phone and ipod are all in one ;D

Glad you're having fun with it
I'm not much of a gamer either, but here are some I do like:-
Easy Sudoko Angry Birds Doodle Pro Fruit Ninja
They are all ones you can play without being connected to Internet. You can log in & play either against others in some cases, or simply compare your score in other cases, but I'm not into all that. I just play by myself.
I just bought Tiny Wings, as it was recommended to me, but I haven't played it yet.
For a shopping list, I like Grocery Gadget. The bar code scanning doesn't work in Aus, but it's the best out all the ones I tried. I use it every week.
Also, there's a great app called Consume. It can keep a track of your usage for multiple service providers, so you can see where you're up to re your limits & how many days left to roll over.

Speaking of music, one thing it lacks is a radio. An App that solves this is Tunein Radio. Means you're using data though when you listen.

Cool thanks for that. I'll check it out. I've got a few good ones so far. Star Walk is great for those who love looking at the night sky. I've got a couple of knot apps which are useful since I'm in the SES and we use knots a LOT. Localscope is also good for finding banks, resaurants, servos etc in whatever are you find yourself in. I also have one called LED Light for iPhone which is free and just turns your flash into a torch. Sound Hound is good for identifying songs and will even give you the lyrics for most. I've checked out the radio one already and decided against that one for now cos it will use up all my data and if I want music i've got a couple of thousand songs on there already lol.

Have to admit I only use the radio one when joined to home internet via wi-fi. I have a big data allowance at home & never have to worry. I never use it on 3G network for same reason as you.
There are some great podcasts that I listen to when I'm exercising, or just downloaded songs.
