A nice article on clicker training is at:- www.parrot.ir/en/clicker-training-as-a-tool-to-help-manage-aggressive-parrots/I've never really tried clicker training - I have a clicker and thought I might try clicker training with Ernie, my male African Grey. After 2 clicks he was copying the sound exactly, and all he wanted to do was get hold of the clicker so he could make it click himself, which he does very well. Maybe I had the wrong approach initially, and I let him regard it as a toy rather than a training aid. cheers, Mike

I'm using a clicker & sesame seeds to get my little yellow chicken, Tinga, stepping up.

LOL, perhaps Ernie was trying to 'train' you Mike Sorry, it just sounded so funny, or more the pictures in my head of Ernie clicking when you did something right! Anyways, a great article - I am going to look into a clicker now, as I feel that one may assist me in teaching Wally some good things Sally

I'm very jealous of you, Mike. African Greys are my dream bird & you have 2!
I've only ever seen pics & YouTubes of them. I'd love to at least see one fir real one day.
They sure are smart enough to be the ones doing the training. Wonder what trick they will teach you next.

We used to have them in our bird area but that would have been an exception amongst pet shops. Also I am sure they are available on line. cheers, Mike

Hi, i bought a clicker from ebay from america, it came with a book of instructions on how to train and for me it is working well, i have had a lot of progress with my lorikeet larry he will step up, fly to me on call, ( i have had a lot of problems with him when it actually comes to flying to me, too busy with what was around him i guess now he knows hes going to get a grape and a click when i call you just wont stop him LOL) any way i recommend it on my experience with a clicker. regards eileen
