Hi guys, was wondering if you know whether of not we can get manzanita branches here in Aust? I am jealous of the American's playgyms and that wood would be perfect in my house!

yeah that's American though.. trying to import any kind of wood is a tedious process so i'm trying to source it here.

I've never seen Manzanita for sale in Australia - pity since it is used to make some incredible perches and play stands in the USA.

I have checked with AQIS (our customs inspection people) and we can bring it in, because it has been sandblasted and there is no bark. I still have the email from AQIS advising me so. At the time, that USA company was happy to ship it to Aus, but by memory it was a little costly for shipping. I suggest you make your own enquiries of AQIS, though, rather than just go be me  I never went ahead with bringing it in, but I might one day. You can get some interesting pieces of grapevine and other wood in Aussie pet and aquarium stores that make great perches. It was hard to get a good shot, but the perch below is grapevine.   |

Manzanita has been available in Australia for the last year through Bawden's Cockatoo Chaos www.cockatoochaos.com Unfortunatley all supplies have now been exhausted until I bring another container in. |
