Just wondering what i have to do if I was to cut some branches off one of my tree which is bird friendly so i can use them as perches inside my cage?
Do u need to clean them with anything or soak them?
Thanks

Often the size of the wood makes it hard, but I often do steralise. Mainly because I got into the habit from my aquariums (it's always recommended you steralise wood to go into a tank). Old habits die hard with me. Sometimes, all I do is soak them in the bathtub in a bleach solution. Afterwards, rinse really well and sun dry outside. This is another method I have used, especially for pine cones or bark wood, such as bottle brush, where the bark would make good hiding places for insects.
For fresh flowers and leaves from my own garden, they go straight in. Fresh eucalyptus branches & leaves either go in after a quick hose down, or if I think they need it, they might get a quick salt bath.
I think though in most cases, you could probably just do as Mike does & pop them straight in. Just be aware if they may have ever been sprayed. I would avoid them if you suspect that.
