I've done it again everyone...... I think with my heart and not my head....lol. Today I brought home Jane. She is a 4 year old Galah. The advertisement read.......For Sale - 4 year old female Galah. Very friendly. Was kids bird but they have all grown up and left home and she doesn't get any attention now. Needs someone to love her. $60 with cage. HOW? could I resist! I didn't get the cage, it was a rust bucket, but I did bring Jane home. She is gorgeous. Very overweight - but gorgeous. She loves a scratch, dances and is a sweetheart. My hubby just shook his head! You guys would have brought her too wouldn't you? She cost me $40 - but to me the price is irrelevant. She is a much needed....(trying to convince myself) addition to my FIDS....... Will post pics soon. So having never had a Galah....anything I need to know? Thanks guys Flossy )

I am shaking my head. Why does that not surprise me. LOL.
Flossy, I don't know about you but i prefer to see how a new bird fits into my household before i would ask what i need to know. You are not new to parrots & i am sure you really do have everything under control.
By the way congratulations.

Congrats! Galahs ARE soft, aren't they! I know I just love to cuddle AJ as much as possible - good thing he's a cuddly cockatoo. lol Hissy fits are quite normal in the afternoon/evening! Wild galahs do it too! Enjoy!!! I wish I could take on another one. AJ would never forgive me though, bless him! Carls

Congrats on the new addition. I have had 2 galahs in the past but that was when I was a kid (many moons ago).

Thanks everyone. Happy to day that Miss Jane is fitting in nicely. She is very overweight though, so is on rations and lots of fruit and vegies. I don't think she has been given much variety, as she looks at me like....WHAT! is this? lol. She only had oats in her cage when we got her.....so I'm assuming this is why she is so porky. She lovesssss scratches though and is a real doll. She hasn't had much attention of late, so it's quite a change for her here....lol. Welcome to the Funny Farm Miss Jane......

Oh sorry Robyn......have just been decluttering around home lately, will post a pic today for you. She is a sweety - although a tad anxious I think. I'm sure once she settles into the Funny Farm, she will be ok. It's like looking at my reflection really........a fat galah! LOL! xxxx
