Hi, I just joined the forum having had a rainbow lorikeet for the last 6 months and just thinking he (or is it a she?). Lucky (my lori) was just a few of days old when I found him in the sawdust of a tree that had been that had been lopped in my backyard. He had narrowly managed to survive a chainsaw and a tree falling down around him. He/she is now a much loved pet. He once escaped out of his cage but returned, quite traumatized, about 8 hours later. He responded to my calls and landed on my head from a tree above where his birth nest was located. My question is "Would he survive if released into the wild?" He may return to his birth tree where I could feed him and generally enjoy him while not having to stay indoors or in a cage for the rest of his life. What do some of you more experienced lori owners think? ;D Attachments:

I would not return him to the wild as a lone bird. If he has been with you since a baby, he will not have learned the skills necessary to survive. JMO.
