Hi, Thanks for reading this. I'm interested in breeding and I have found someone selling a male and female ecky bonded pair. They have been kept as indoor pets but I have been informed that they will be fine in an aviary and if a nest box is introduced they will have babies. One is 2 yr old and the other is 3 yr old. I would love them to breed but I guess that is not the main issue. Its a lot of money - Just over $2000 - that they want, I could just buy two young ones for a lot less and introduce to an avairy straight away, then I would wait to breed. Anyway I don't have room indoors for them, so I don't want to buy them and then they not adjust to an aviary. Because I would have to sell. I do go around the trees to get to the point. Basically my 3 questions are: 1, will they adjust to an aviary? 2, will they breed? 3, are they over priced? LOL. Thanks in advance.

Aimie, IMO & with the experience i have gained over the last 10 or so years i have had eclectus in my collection. To answer your questions.
Yes they will adjust to an aviary very well.
Will they breed, that is the million $ question. If they are human imprinted i doubt it. However if the pair have bonded then yes there is a chance. Personally i wouldn't buy a pair that have been pets.
Now the price is way over the top for a pair that have never bred. I would expect to pay that for a top breeding pair. A fair price would be between $1200 to $1500.
I would advise that you either buy a guranteed breeding pair or get a young H/R pair & put them into the aviary ASAP. A young pair will usually bond very well & most likely go to nest at 2 & half years old. so you don't have such a long time to wait.
Hope this is of help.
