Hi
I've just joined the forum to try and get some help (sorry if this is bad forum ethics).
My mother is looking after a 20 year old sulphur crested cockatoo.
He was my fathers, but since he has passed away, my mother has cared for the cocky, but now days does not have the time to look after the cocky, and we would ideally like to find someone who does.
Apart from posting an add on this forum, what other options are there to find someone willing to adopt our cockatoo? We're not looking to sell the bird, we just want to find him a new loving home, and would be willing to help out financially (within reason).
There is no immediate rush - and I guess it would be better to continue to look after the cocky until a new owner is found, instead of giving the responsibility to a bird refuge/sanctuary/vet? But how do we get the word out there?
Also if we found someone interstate - is it possible to have our cocky transported in a safe manner - are there courier services that help move animals, and cockatoos in general?
Any help in guiding us would be appreciated.
email - yokotais@hotmail.com
Thanks Carlo
