Can rainbow lorikeets eat yoghurt? In moderation obviously. My two ringnecks like a bit of fruit yoghurt, although I never give them much, just a bit on the tip of a teaspoon if they fly to me when I'm eating some. They also like a bit of ice cream as well, in fact I have had to give up eating ice cream when they are out and flying  cheers, Mike |

A rainbow lorikeet's diet typically includes flowers, nectars, fruit and seeds. Therefore i don't think yoghurt would be fine for them.

Just a correction - a Rainbow's diet does not typically include seed - their digestive system is evolved for fruit, flowers and nectar, but has not evolved to eat seed. The muscular gizzard in seed eating parrot such as Rosella, cockatiels and budgies enables them to grind up seed so they can successfully digest it. Lorikeets have a gizzard with a weak muscular wall that is unable to properly break down the seed and hence they are inefficient at digesting a seed diet. Lorikeets will eat seed given the opportunity but they derive little nutritional value from doing so. cheers, Mike |
