Well thanks guys you bloody well sent it back, raining buckets up here again today. Have over 100mm in 24 hours. Doesn't look like letting up anytime soon. Mike i saw all the rain you guys got on the telly. We just had to share.LOL. Laraine, I don't think to much has changed, when we get a heavy downpour, especially when the tide is high. The great thing about living up this way is as soon as the rain stops the water has a chance to run out to sea rather quickly. Great pic Tracey, looks a bit like up here when we flood.

Trouble is Robyn............once it has finished up your way it is expected to come down here again......not sure Stephen's boss would appreciate him having more time off work.......not a lot he can do about it though lol. Stephen had 2 call outs during that time and could not get to them. But had a couple of local ones that he could get to. Was told we are to expect more rain around Thursday, so I had better make sure I go shopping before then just in case we are flooded in for a few days again........and I am guessing Mike will be expecting it not long after that lol........nothing like sharing amongst friends lol One of our sons lives down Mikes way also ......... and I rang him to see how he was also. Trouble is here when it rains now.........the creeks stay up for longer as our ground is so water logged now. The awonga dam was over the spillway again (over 1 metre over) and was threatening to cut off a part of the road here that means total road closure for up to 2 weeks last time that happened, so the locals were abuzz with the "excitment" of it all

I don't know how you Queenslanders put up with all that rain. Wet one day, soaking the next. And you gotta be lovin' Aunty Julia's & Uncle Bob's carbon tax which will mean it will cost you all 15% more just to have some dry clothes to wear.
Never mind, we got a cold front though on Friday that made its way up from the bowels of Antarctica and deposited snow on the hills. The last part of summer just disappeared in 10 minutes and all of a sudden it was winter. It went from 28 to 12 in 10 minutes and the rain came in sideways with 100kph winds. Two hours later it was warm and sunny again. Then again, Melbourne's like that. At least it was kind enough to take the humidity away with it.

Gerard I am one clever cookie I have my cloths line under cover & don't very often use the dryer. There is only Hubby & myself so don't need the dryer like i did when the kids were young. But yep our power bill isn't exactly cheap. Just paid the last one & it was nudging $600 for the 3 months. To be honest think i prefer our weather up here than the cold you guys have to deal with. 10 degrees at night is cold enough for me. But i still like the days warm.

Wow we pay around $420 for our electricity for 2 months and that's just for 2 of us, no dryer but lots of air con units. I have friends with families that pay $700 for 2 months

Robyn, as long as Mike, Tracey, yourself and the others from QLD on this forum are high & dry, that's what matters. It's not usually the cold temps in winter that get you here, it's the wind chill.
Keep Dry,
Gerard

Our last 3 month electricity bill was $78! It would have been about $390 but we installed solar panels last year - 2.4KW - and earned $312 in credits for power sold to the grid. And that was in a period cloudier than normal for the Sunshine Coast.
While we are conscious of not over-using electricity, we do use the air conditioners when needed, and have a pool pump chewing up power as well. It was a good investment and will have paid for itself in under 4 years, and will then be straight profit.
As for our weather now - just some brief 10 minute showers blowing in from the sea - mostly overnight. We are starting to move into our autumn weather - the best time of year here. Mostly clear sunny days, maximums around 25°C to 27°C during the day and mid-teens overnight.
cheers,
Mike

Solar panels are very popular in WA especially with the amount of sunshine we have here, another 30 degree day today for us in Autumn. Unfortunately we live in a unit below another unit so we can't fit any solar panels anywhere cos we don't have a roof! I just gotta convince the other half now NOT to sleep with the air con on and the window open!

I put solar panels on last year too. The pool filter now runs from 10 to 4 on four days a week. The daily usage on my last bill was halved (I always thought the pool filter was chewing up the power) so I was very happy about that.

I hear you Mike, but imagine how much power you could have generated if you had a mini hydro wheel built into your downpipes or in the channel next to the driveway with all that rain. Robyn and yourself would have to set up your own individual power supply companies...lol. All jokes aside though the solar panels have reduced my electrical bill to a quarter of what it was.
Currently it is a lovely 25.6 degrees and 22% humidity at 8:00pm. At last we are getting some lovely settled autumn weather.

Winter has finally arrived on the Sunshine Coast - temp the last couple of days has been around 20°C and it even got down to 10°C Thursday morning! And another 65mm of rain overnight and still raining. Time to find out where the sweaters are stored and dig out the doona.
cheers,
Mike

The weather during April has generally been unusually warm for Melbourne. Has been around 23 high and 10min. Winter is about to hit us though.
