Hi there. Just found the site and been browsing a bit, it looks very informative. Currently I own one solitary red rump (2-3 months old). I bought him yesterday and plan to tame him. Not sure how he will go but I'm looking forward to the challenge.
In the past I have owned cockatiels, lorikeets, eclectus, budgies and tamed a baby lovebird. I wanted a small native bird that's a bit different to the norm so opted for the red rump. Not sure if they make good tame pets as there is so much conflicting information on the net. Any advise is welcome.

Hi and welcome to the Forum
Good luck with the Red rump. If it wasn't hand raised it will be a bit of a challenge. A male will be easier than a female.
I have hand raise da few to see how they turned out as pets, and wasn't very impressed. The females all made poor pets even when hand raised while the males were quite variable with most becoming increasingly wild with age. Some did remain OK but it needed a patient and sensitive owner to keep those ones tame.
cheers,
Mike
