Hi all, IO have some new birds, a pair of Zebra Finches and 2 Silver King Quails, but I was wondering the mutations of the Zebra Finch hen. The male is a normal, but the hen looks fawn, but she has a dark brown rump and tail.... they only photo's I have aren't very good...

Hard to be sure from your photo but she looks like a standard fawn to me - better photos including the rump area and closeup of the face would help. cheers, Mike

I think she is a Fawn. Ideally in the show standard the Fawns have a white belly but many commonly seen have the fawn continuing down to the tail.
cheers,
Mike

Thank you, that helps Also if they had chicks what would the babies be? Who knows!!! Zebras are almost always split to a variety of mutations these days - a pure wild form Zebra with no splits is a rare bird! It's a bit like breeding budgies - stand by to be pleasantly surprised at what might appear. However if they are both exactly what they appear, with no splits, then all babies would be normals. cheers, Mike
