Hi everyone, I found one of our baby quails on the floor- firstly I thought it was dead but when I picked it up it started moving. I have it inside, we have had lots of rain and its been a bit cold- my other silver quail had all her babies die I have it in a large container with a warm wheat heat thing (in a towel) and I put some seed and small lid of water (only just covered to bottom)- I'm not sure what I should do with it.... Usually the babies eat seeds on their own, or the parent shows them.... Thanks in advance for any advice

As you know they eat by themselves at hatch and I have never heard of anyone trying to hand feed them. They will eat instinctively so even if their parents are not around they should eat OK cheers, Mike

The baby died I'm not sure why but it had trouble walking (?) It would just fall over all the time. My other silver hen has eggs, and she has hatched one baby which walks fine- so maybe the other baby had leg problems?

Must have had some sort of leg injury - all the baby quail I have had were able to walk fine so an injury is highly likely cheers, Mike
