Hey Everyone!
So, after months of research, I have finally decided on getting a green cheek conure. I don't really know where I should get one though... If anyone knows if the Parrot Package is good please tell me. I am also thinking of getting one from Wattle Grove Aviaries. Please tell me if you have bought from somewhere else and am completely satisfied as well.
Thanks!

Hi, and welcome to the Forum I don't know either of the places you mention personally but have heard good reports about the birds from both. I suggest asking to visit their facility and seeing for yourself how the birds are looked after. If they have bright active healthy looking birds in clean surroundings and appear helpful and knowledgeable about their birds then either should be fine. One thing I do suggest asking about is if they offer any sort of health guarantee with their babies - I would hope for them to offer a 14 day guarantee and if the baby gets sick during that period which an avian vet says it must have contracted before you took possession then they will replace and repay any vet bils you incur - although they may have a requirement for the baby to go to their vet for treatment which is reasonable. The other big source of birds for sale is Facebook - there seem to birds for sale /wanted groups all over Australia now - there are 3 just on the Sunshine Coast alone. And then there is Gumtree as well. Sellers on theses groups will usually be quite a bit cheaper, but some may lack the professionalism of the two you mentioned, and not offer the support they might provide. Buying cheap with bird is not always the best idea! cheers, Mike

Thanks for all the advice! Please tell me if you know anyone on this forum that has bought from either so I can ask them for their feedback.
Thanks, Sam

Hey Mike, Thanks for all the advice! Please tell me if you know anyone on this forum that has bought from either so I can ask them for their feedback. Thanks, Sam If you enter Parrot Package into the search field for the Forum there are a few references - nothng negative about the equality of their birds. They are from a while ago and those commenting no longer regularly participate in the Forum. I didn't find anything about Wattle Grove Aviaries. Looking at the Wattle Grove web site it looks like they have very little available at the moment - just a blue yellow-sided which looks too expensive - leave alone, not as attractive as the cheaper pineapples and normal yellow-sided. Parrot Package appear to have some - but I'm not sure how up to date their page is, and it is a terrible background colour so didn't want to waste time looking!! cheers, Mike

Hi
I have bought Green Cheek Conures from breeders in Sydney and also have bought from the bird markets. The bird markets are on at Fairfield in May and Castle Hill in July.

I have also bought a cinnamon from Wattle Grove Aviaries which is near to where I live. He advertises on Petlink.

Patrick has ads on Petlink.com.au at the moment for different Green Cheeks. He advertises under Tiels. I have been happy with the bird I bought from him.

Ok thanks Laraine. I'm now leaning towards getting one towards buying from Wattle Grove Aviaries. I'd love to hear more about your bird by the way.

Oh and by the way, do you think you can tell me how extreme the nippiness is? My friend bought a green cheek from birdsville and I have literally never seen it go for 5 minutes without nipping him haha!

Patrick also sells handraised Conures, that might be a better option to help to control nippiness. I have a pair of Cinnamon Greencheeks (I bought the female from Patrick) and a pair of ordinary Greencheeks and one lonely male whose female died a while back. One day I might buy him another mate. My male Cinnamon is very tame although an aviary bird. Good luck.
