Hi all. I'm new here so please forgive me if this question has been posted before (I did a search in the lovebird section and couldn't find anything)
I'd like to know if lovebirds can be put in an aviary with other birds. We have three peach-faces that aren't breeding (they are part of a group of eight we had, the others have died) and we'd like to know if we can put elegant parrots with them. Our elegants are breeding well and need a larger cage so we thought we could put them in with the lovebirds.
We also have canaries and gouldian finches that are breeding like rabbits! Will they go OK with the lovebirds too?
Thanks in advance

Thanks in advance Luna xxx Sorry for the delay in replying - I have been away from the computer for a while - in general lovebirds should not be housed with other species. It can be OK but often it is not and the Peachfaces will attack other birds they share an aviary with, with any babies being particularly at risk. They can be quite territorial and don't like to share! Why not swap the Elegants and Peachfaces over so the Elegants get the larger space for themselves and babies, while the 3 remaining Peachfaces will be OK in a smaller cage. I would definitely not put the canaries and finches in with the Peachfaces. It could work out fine but it likely would not - with feet getting bitten off as a minimum result. cheers, Mike

Thanks, Mike. That sounds like a good idea. At the moment our elegants are in with the canaries and they get on really well. So I might buy a newer, smaller flight cage for the peachfaces and give the elegants an aviary of their own. Thanks so much for your help
