I have fawn zebra finch who lives in a cage by herself because she used to pluck feathers (her feathers and other birds'). I haven't seen her pluck feathers in over a week. So, I am considering getting her a cage mate. Anyone have experience in such a situation?
Go Brazil!

It can be a problem with Zebras - we used to get some happening in our shop if we had too many Zebras in a cage - the answer was less in the cage and the plucked ones used to come home to an outside flight until they had regrown feathers. I would suggest keeping her alone for another week or two until you see some regrowth of feathers and then trying a mate. How big a cage is she in? cheers, Mike

The funny thing is when I put her with the other 2 (regular zebra finches who live next to her), she goes to pluck their chest feathers immediately. I've tried 3 times. Thanks for your advice! Go Brazil!

I assume that is inches and not centimetres? What were the sexes of the two Zebs in the other cage?
