I am about to aqquire a new pet I have been looking, researching and I still want an Eclectus cock . I live in Mildura, most of these hand raised babies I see advertised are a decent plane trip away and this is stopping me, for a couple of reasons.. How safe is freighting for the bird? Do many birds die on planes? How safe is it to buy from an internet forum [just HOW do you know the respectable breeders/dealers?] Would'nt it be better to be able to meet the owner and meet the bird [pet] before you bought it? I have been thinking I may have to look local for something else as I am just too scared to go through with a purchase sight unseen Could someone give me some advice/reassurance even, about internet purchasing, frieghting. or even if you have a ready to go baby green boy and live not far from mildura....[lol] let me know! I have almost decided to settle for a lorikeet/Alex/ Conure cause i can probably get one local and have a choice. But I do have my heart set on My green boy Money in my pocket, and empty cage and I dont want to wait much longer

Howdy, I have been freighting birds interstate for more years than I care to admit. In all that time, I have never (touch wood!) lost a bird. They all arrived safely and were picked up by the new owners. Vice versa, I've picked birds up and they were none the wiser. It is a known fact with certain species that with a massive change they do start breeding the moment they are placed into their new homes. Do not be frightened about freighting. It is a perfectly safe, efficient and low stress scenario. If you are interested I may be able to offer you assistance with eckies. (a little plug for me here haha). I'm based in metropolitan Victoria, just a short 3-4 hour drive from Mildura. I have a a few beautiful eckies if you're interested. hehehe. You can come and view them at your leisure.

are you in melbourne itself? Cause that is a 6 hour drive for me , if I dont have to actually go through melbourne itself, BUT, I drove down to get my Quaker and can do that for an eckie How close to ready are your Eckies and I am after a boy? How much?? I am very very interested!

Well the eckies are maybe two or three weeks (at the most) before they are ready to go. They are fully weaned now but I never let any of my birds go till I am fully comfortable with their ability to fend for themselves. Plus, I offer a veterinary health certificate (through Highbury Vet Clinic) so that everyone who buys birds from me are fully aware of the condition their new companions.
You can email me directly at tim.lai@marmitik.com.au and we can talk in greater detail. Also do not hesitate to contact me on 0423 547 471.

It is great. I'm a member of quite a few birdie forums but only a couple in Oz and they're not as......... Well, I guess they're a little boring.

Thanks for everything Tim Pleasure's all mine. Don't be a stranger and if you need assistance, just give me a holler. With the recent release of Star Wars 3, might I suggest 'Yoda' as a name. Your new boy is very green but not as wrinkly as the movie character, but equally as adorable.
