I've got someone from Adelaide interested in some pairs of cockatiels but I've never freighted before. Does anyone know anything about freighting via bus as this is their preferred method? How do I go about freighting either bus or plane? Who do I contact?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve,
I highly recommend that you freight by air versus road. The stress is prolonged via a road courier whilst the air is dramatically quicker - considering the majority of the eastern cities are no more than 2.5hours by air.
Contact Australian Air Express to book the shipment. They are located at Tullamarine Airport and is near the Qantas Valet Parking.
If you have any further questions do not hesitate to contact me on 0423 547 471.
Rgds Tim

hello steve i agree with with tim in the fact of air over road i belive that s lot of bus componies dont frieght live goods any more due to the hight mortalaty rate involved me personaly i would get into contact with the person and tell them that you would air frieght only all you do is ring the air linbe and they will put you onto the relevent place to contact to get the birds frieghted regards bill

Steve,
I have a number of regulation approved transport boxes which I bought a while back used to freight conures and quakers. These would be suitable for one pair of cockatiels very easily, but could easily fit two or three pairs very comfortably.
Rgds Tim
PS: If you need assitance, I'd be more than happy to organise the shipment consignment, etc with AAE on your behalf.

What do you put the birds in to freight them? I would think they would get stressed out at the process?

As strange as it seems Karen the smaller type carry timber boxes do the trick as the birds have no room to thrash about and i usually place them the day before in there box to settle them down. I also have most of the box covered and place a leafy green vegetable in the box for the journey to compensate for food and water cheers Frank

Thanks Frank, you pre-empted my next question about food and water.

If you are freighting birds from Sydney Airport, does anyone know a reliable freight company, perhaps TNT?

Thanks Frank, do they pick up from your home? Or do I need to courier them to the airport?

its a lot cheaper if you deliver yourself to the airport and use small boxes as it eliminates thrashing about and price interstate is usually 45$ plus 3$ per kg cheers Frank

I think courier services Dallas have such provision! I have been using this service for a very long time now and I am very much satisfied with their work and delivery. It has been a very long time that I am sending gifts and parcels to my relatives on time without fail.
