is it safe to keep scaley brested and rainbows in the same cage in breeding pairs regards bill

no %100 sure on this but ive heard its ok if they are a bonded pair if not a bonded pair they just might mate and you dont need that

Polly is right Bill, Scaly's and Rainbows will crossbreed all to readily, it would be best to keep them seperately if you have the room.

Hi Bill, It is also illegal in Queensland anyway to knowingly breed "hybrids" as they are called if scalies & rainbows cross breed. Good idea to keep them apart. Regards Bev

Ok probably sound silly, but why can u not breed a scaley and a rainbow? not that ive seen it done just never crossed my mind untill reading this lol Thanks, Rach

hello mystical by breeding the 2 sub spiecies together you end up distroying the genetic lines of each sub spiecies and you inturn create a new spieacies with in most cases have a lot of befects E.G smaller bone structure and most of the off spring from the crossover are infertile as well hope that helps regards bill

I am against cross breeding but it can be good in some cases. Did you know the Olive (Grey-Green) Rainbow was first bred by crossing a Rainbow with a Scaly Breasted Lorikeet
