Haha he is. He played with me for the first time today (apart from the preening and such that I usually get). He's fine with hands outside the cage but is rather leery of them being inside his cage, so I've been slowly trying to get him used to me having my hand in the cage, mainly as we have to take him out whenever we change his food or water throughout the day, and this is when he likes to try to fly (which always ends in failure as he doesn't have his wing flight feathers or tail feathers). So today I went out and he was looking rather bored, so I put my hand in, hoping that instead of trying to peck it he would lick it like he normally does when he's out of the cage. He did, which was a nice triumph on it's own, but when I tried to remove my hand he followed it down to the bottom of the cage...so I decided to wait and see what he would do. Next thing I know my hand is tackled by a very quietly chirping ball of feathers, and being wrestled around with. So I decided to wrestle back, and he's suddenly on his back, little feet waggling in the air, having his belly tickled and trying to catch my fingers and nibble them or hold them with his feet. Every time I pulled away he'd grip on with his feet and end up hanging upside down off two of my fingers. We played like that for about ten minutes, and then again a little later. Looks like the hand is his new toy.

That's wonderful he's becoming so accepting.

I think perhaps I may be turning into a bird addict. I keep going 'It would be great if Squee had a friend...' and then having to remind myself that as a student one bird is a large enough committment as it is. ^^; I wouldn't trade him for the world though. I need to find a place that sells non-toxic wood blocks so I can make him a chew toy. He loves his rope but it just doesn't fulfill his chewing needs (he just climbs up and down it and uses it as a swing instead).

He sounds absolutely delightful. I found myself thinking..........."maybe I should get a lori for my next bird" A friend of mine has one and he is lovely also.

My lori loves laying on his back being tickled and playing. We have hung a chain in his cage with a ping pong ball at the bottom and he will lay on his back and kick the ball around for hours . He climbs the chain and attacks from above. He also loves baby toys that have lots of dangly bits and that make noise. I do not know who forgets that he is a bird me or him. When they start giving you kisses and say i love you that is the best
