Has anyone ever noticed that male Alex head shapes seem to be flatter on top? Is this an early detection when they are young if they are to be a male or female? A lady at a pet shop told me this. Also our girl has just learned to fly! Has anyone trained their Alex to fly to you on call? Or is this too difficult?

That is right male alex's have flatter heads and the hens are more rounded.

I have trained my eclectus to recall (fly to me on command).......but that only lasted 6 months then I clipped her wings again as she developed attitude, and now she is just plain hormonal. My alex boy has a bigger boofier head and it is flatter on top while my alex girl has a rounder head and slightly smaller head than Takdoda.

I'd just call him 'him' for now cos it's much nicer than 'it' LOL I thought his head was looking kinda flatish but it's hard to tell from the pics and he is so young,

oh man he is so cute! Are you going to find out for sure if its a male? Adrian Gallagher at Chermside can do a blood test for less then $40. The blood gets sent to Africa for DNA testing. You get results in about 3-4 weeks time.

You can just call the clinic and ask for it. Its called Brisbane Bird Vet and they are onthe cornor of Hamilton Road and Phinks Road is Chermside (near the Westfield)- are you from Brisbane? Just and ring book for the DNA blood test (and just confirm the price too as I did mine about a year ago)
