Hi. This is my first post here. I don't have any birds yet, but I am planning on hand-raising some button quail. I have reserched them alot, but I am still wondering what they are like. Please tell me their true temperment. I am very excited, but I need some help preparing for them. Thanks!

Hi there, my understand is that they are very hard to tame.. But then again I don't know alot about them.. I know once they have hatched they are independant and don't realiy on their parent's except for warmth.. They start to eat and drink on there own.. I'm sorry I can't be to more help but as I said I don't know alot about them..

Quail like poultry chicks don't require hand-raising as they learn to eat by themselves once shown ofter 2 days old...some at a day old. They need to be shown how to eat and drink from xtremely shallow dishes and they also need a heat source. They should really be raised on chick starter although last season mine would only eat finch seed. You can also give them a bit of mashed boiled egg for the first few days mixed with the starter. Hope this helps....have anwsered your other thread as well

Thank you for your comments on reply 11 Oct 2nd. But in haste I read recently and I thought it said "Here He Is" as if you took a picture of one of your quail. My confusion. Sorry about that. from Robert and Angel
