Haven't tried working that out lately but if you class only 1 mutation as 1 it would be easier. i would have nightmares trying to count them all if you included all the multi-mutations out there. I counted at least 10 at a quick effort but there are more than that. Jo-Anne

Thanks Bill and Tony! I do not think and have never said my birds are perfect. In fact I would appreciate any constructive criticism....only from those that are experienced enough to do so though thankyou. Often with birds beauty is in the eye of the beholder and what I may think is stunning could be horrific in terms of what is considered a prime specimen. I am looking to start a pastelface line using these babies but if their conformation is lacking then so be it...I will have to look at getting other birds. I want to improve my birds not end up breeding ones that are inferior. It is my dream to one day have a reputation somewhere similar to Franks. Maybe it won't happen but with those sights at least I have something to work toward and a standard to attain. We can all dream!!!LOL Jo-Anne

Hi Jo its every breeders desire to be at the top of their tree regarding the quality of lines they breed and sometimes an inferior quality will not only damage reputations but also leave huge scars with 1st timers especially as a pet. Sometimes a love and passion for aviculture is not enough and hard decisions need to be made I am however very impressed with your attitude towards your breeding programs and the knowledge you are quickly gathering a trait that can only be bred into a human rather than be developed, the world of Cockatieling Pracitise is a better place for having up and coming breeders like yourself many happy breeding years ahead and plenty of Bent Tails to you i just hope many will follow in your footsteps as i know with some of the breeders mentioned on the forum the ball is rolling cheers Frank

Hi Josie. Your birds are stunning & I think you are well on your way to breeding top pastelfaces. Nothing wrong with the birds in your pics. Good & healthy looking birds & you should feel very proud of yourself. Not all people are as caring of their tiels but i would have to say that of all the people I have met & talked to on this forum they are all responsible breeders who care about their birds. Well done & keep up the good work. Different breeders have their own specialy that they like to breed, & i think it is everyones choice which they choose to breed. Negative comments are not appreciated & is offensive. Cheers for now Anna

It is amazing bill how different we are all are. What you are striving for fell into my lap. My first chick I ever bred was a wf lutino.....the mother of these pastelface chicks actually. I had no idea what colour chicks I would get first off and knew next to zilch about genetics then too. I was just lucky first time round I guess! What I enjoy is when you want to get a certain colour chick and do it yourself without going out and buying the birds that will give you them. If you understand what I mean! I had to buy a pastelface to begin with but hopefully I can use the better birds I have bred myself to get whatever variations I want......by keeping chicks and breeding them to get the future parent I need. It gives a lot more satisfaction to accomplished it on your own!...for me it does anyway! Jo-Anne
