Oh by the way I own 2 alexandrines, a male Takoda (who I handraised and he is only 11 months old at the moment) and Shrekie (a 3 year old female).

I'd say your Greeny is only about 4 weeks old in those pics though Vankarhi, Judy and Petiel may have a better idea. My alex was several months old when I.

He is very young. Are you hand feeding him?

Pretty good guess Jules. I reckon approx 4 weeks old too. Takoda was 4.5 weeks old when I got him and he had a few more feathers on him (not many but he did have a few more).
He will need to be fed at least 3 meals a day......preferably 4 then weaned down to less feeds until he is around 10 weeks old.

Hi Shahid, it's a bit early to tell but I'll go out on a limb and say girl.

It is really too early to tell unless you get him/her dna'd. An experienced breeder might be able to have a good educated guess, but that is all it would be. The males usually have a bigger flatter head than a female. Takoda had a very big flat head and his breeder guessed he was a male and she was right ......... the dna came back and said "boy". Takoda is almost 12 months old and doesn't have a ring yet, but his colours have changed to much brighter than my female.

Greeny is looking gorgeous. Losing appetite at fledging is normal, she'll regain it again soon.

Wow hasn't greeny grown now. He/she looks lovely too. They do tend to not want to eat while fledging, but I still forced Takoda to eat (and others too when I fed them). I made sure also that he had plenty of other stuff to chew on like cooked peas and corn kernels, sprouts, a bit of seed, like millet, some cracker biscuits, apple, watermelon etc etc. That way he was trying stuff and learning to feed himself too, but I still fed him formula too at least twice a day (sometimes 3 times a day.........I am a sucker though. LOL)
The pics are really hard to guage what he might be. In one of the younger pics I thought maybe a male, but in the only pic I could see of his/her head in the older pics, I thought a girl. Try to get a really good shot of Greenies head in the pic so we can see the shape etc. But you have to realise these are only guesses too and you wont know for sure until Greeny matures or get a dna test (but you said you can't do that).

I was looking at the placement of the crease from the beak to the eye. In Greeny's pics the crease looks to be level with the middle of the eye which often indicates it's a girl. This is only what I was told and from my observations, it's not a foolproof method. I just like to have a sex to refer to rather than called them 'it' or him/her lol.

Yeah I know what you mean by that Jules (calling it, him or her or it. LOL) Have a look at my pics of Shrekie and Takoda........their creases look the same to me. I even had another look. Maybe I am looking at the wrong thing. I hand another look at them also in the "flesh" so to speak and they look the same to me. But I do know that Takoda is a boy and pretty sure that Shrekie is a girl as she is 3 years old now and no sign of a ring around her neck.
