Just found this place and you all seem like a great friendly bunch of bird and animal lovers.
I'm Avril and I live on a farm just outside of Seymour, in NE Rural Victoria. On our farm we have chooks and ducks and my Fids. I am owned by 30 Budgies, 11 IRN's, 1 Eclectus Parrot, 2 Button Quails, 2 Japanese Quails. and last but not least Buster my fox catcher Dog
We have numerous native birds and animals that regularly visit us, as we have an orchard that has plenty of fruit and the birds are allowed to eat at their will. Cockatoos, Kookaburras, Magpies, Currawongs, Blue Wrens, I have a pair of wild King Parrots that come and feed all the time, Grass Parrots, Rosella's, Crimson Lorikeets,Galahs, Australian native Doves, and also the ferals like the Indian Myna that I am gradually eradicating, and the crows. I'm in the process of applying for my Wildlife Shelter License, so hope that comes through, it may take awhile because in the area I live their a few and they don't want too many in the same district but I am patient and will wait.
I have had Kangaroos, wombats, koalas, emus visit us on the farm as our property backs onto the Goulburn River so have plenty of wildlife.
Looking forward to being here and reading all about your Fids

Grego that wouldn't be Nicki and Peter by any chance. They are the ones that I got my breeding pair of IRN's of and also my Eclectus Parrot.
The are actually moving back to Brisbane in December and we have become great friends. They still have their parrots, Ecckies, Alex's,Quakers,& GCC.
If it wasn't for them Henry would be dead I'm sure. Also Pidge as his mum rejected her babies at 2 weeks old and they had to pull him and rear him something I'm grateful for.

Thanks everyone. Yep Grego they sure do know their birds, and I was lucky enough to get my nine bay aviary from them as well.
At the moment Peter is driving to Brisbane taking aviaries with him, and Nicki is sending the birds up on Wednesday. Nicki is flat out handraising 3 tiels, and 3 GCC at the moment and they are only 3 weeks old but she is experienced at it so no worries there.
She is driving to Qld on the 12th with the six babies. Wuill say Hi when I see her 2moro, she is coming to see my newly fledged IRN's as the parents were their birds.

I don't Stephen to build my aviaries as he is too busy he is out of bed at 5am in the morning goes to work full time and then comes home and works on the farm, at the moment it is hay season so he is very busy cutting and baling hay, plus he is like everyone else's other half we can wait. Not me I do it myself. I am clearing the area to lay the cement for the aviaries as I am petrified of mice dead or alive. Snakes and spiders and other creepy crawlies no worries but mice and rats I just about go into anaphylactic shock. I'm so bad I can't look at pics or watch films with them in I just go cold. Talking about them now and I fell sick. Yuk. Hopefully the aviaries will be up and running in about a month but my birds are in good ones at the moment which i hope to fill with more . I have put in my order for Christmas I'm after a Silver Cock IRN actually going to see it this weekend as i want to pair him with Charlotte the green cinnamon hen, and another male for Missy the blue mot sure what colour but i will when I see it. My hubby Stephen just shakes his head and says nothing, but I must admit he never complains about them . Yes I'm truly spoilt

So your MM is named Stephen as well ;D so is mine. He is busy too, so I really shouldn't complain. I did clear the area to be made into the aviary, but I do not know how to weld and I have no intention of learning. ;D I do more than enough around with the other things I do......like at the moment I am repainting the inside of the house and I have plans on doing the outside myself too (and it is a highset house and I am scared of hights ;D )
My mm is also very placid and "just allows my fids if it makes me happy" ;D ;D

I'm just have to bolt the aviaries together as I was lucky enough to get them delivered in three separate pieces and Stephen and my son will move them where I want them, I'm just doing the ground work, that way I know they will be done. Us women have to be two steps ahead of our other halves and they think they are in front, we will let them think that poor deluded fools.

Hi Karen, have started on the ground work and it is nearly cleared, and have started buying the bags of cement, well I was given the first four. Now for the measurements and the leveling of the ground that is the next task. I am hiring a bobcat to do that, then there is no excuse for the men to do their part. I crack a mean whip and they jump.
