Hi there! My name is Rachel and I recently acquired two lovely lorikeets. I'm relatively new to bird keeping (apart from a budgie when I was 10 , so far it has been an education. My two little buccaneers are Diego and Isabel. Diego is a rainbow and Izzy a red collar. At the time I was told that they were male and female, Diego is much larger than Izzy and they are both roughly the same age so I can only assume that its true. Both are hand reared and they have the run of the place, the only times they see the inside of their cage is at bed time, or when I go out for the day. I think I'm workin' them out, I've been bitten a few times for understandable reasons and they are usually quite good about the bitting. Diego seems pretty laid back about most things, Izzy's the nervous one and more bitety, but shes the smarter of the two. And due to the mischief they get into and all the beating up of my cats they do, they have been affectionately dubbed the Fruit Salad Gang by the family. ;D

Hi and welcome Rachel. Lorikeets are the funniest lil critters hey. I had 2 rainbows but now only have one and she is hilarious. If Izzy is the smartest one then she is definitely a girl ;D My 2 used to be called 'The peanut gallery' when they were being funny but when being mischievous they were known as 'The terrorists'. LMAO

I too am waiting on pics.... I love lorrikeets but we have so many wild ones around where I live that I just enjoy them in the wild... hi Rachel and welcome. I'm new here too but know a few of these people from way back. Great bunch of people. I've got 2 lorikeets too with one being almost sane but some rather extensive unnecessary vocab and the other one is just an idiot. I'll let one of the old timers here explain the deal with photos. My little blonde head struggles on explaining these things.
