This is a budgie I bought a few weeks ago. I purchased because of it's colour not it's sex. It's cere is bluish and I presumed it's a boy but it's as quiet as a mouse and Bites like a girl ( almost drew blood!). Because it's a pied should I be ignoring the cere colour because I've had pieds before (recessive pieds) and their cere's were pink and they were males. Any info appreciated... here's a pic it's a blue pied

It's a very young bird and looking at it I would say a hen, some pied do have neutral coloured Ceres but they usually show some colouring, nice colouring on the bird just curious here who told you the bird was a blue pied.

It is a very pretty bird. In baby budgies if the cere is light bluish it is a girl and if it is pinkish it is a boy. Its a little hard to tell from your photo.

it's a blue pied cause it has a blue butt! and the faintest blue on it's shoulder (on the right in the second picture) it is a deep cobalt blue

I finally got to take a better photo. They never obey when you want to take photo's.

Well whatever the sex is Amanda it is a very lovely looking budgie. It never ceases to amaze me the many different colours that you can get in budgies. Cheers Anna
