Thanks Jane, I love budgies they were my first love I guess everyone started with budgies, at one stage I had 100 breeding pairs and some really beautiful birds, one in particular was my absolute favorite and served as the foundation for my breeding stock he was a huge bird and fathered a heap of babies here is his picture. It was a sad day when he died I have never found a budgie with the same markings, I am going to put a lot of effort into the budgies this year and it will be good to get back into them again and breeding some nice colours. So John should I start taking bets on how long before you're back to 100 pairs?
Your foundation budgie definately had great markings too.

So John should I start taking bets on how long before you're back to 100 pairs? Your foundation budgie definately had great markings too. PMLOL Jane I dont have the room any more, when I had that many I had them in the aviary that has all my red rumps and cockatiels in it, it is about 15ft long and consists of two aviaries joined together, but I have to admit them were the days ;D ;D ;D ;D I had babies everywhere and met a lot of people and made some good friends through them. I think the best part was when the mums used to come up with their little kids to get them a young one for a pet and watching the look on the kids face as they were trying to pick the one they liked the best, mum used to finish up picking it for them ;D ;D ;D ;D, I still get inquires and phone calls from them just asking questions and sometimes buying more birds off me. Sounds great John Did you make all the aviaries yourself? They look well made, and I like the little bits to block the gaps in the trimdeck roof ( group shot). I am always trying to work on new aviaries, but unfortunately have more time for planning than time ( or money) for building. I was hoping to have something up for seperating the bigger parrots like the red wings this year but they may have to wait til next year to breed I am also trying to renovate my house so that may need to take priority.

The bits that are blocking the holes come with the aviary which make it so much easier than making them yourself ;D. Just a bit of information this morning everyone seems to be pairing up which is just great, looking very promising ;D John

I thought you already had quite a number of budgies John. Yes I did Laraine but I wasn't happy with the way they were breeding or the colours I had plus they were all related and needed thinning out. I had over twenty so I kept the ones that I wanted to breed with, which weren't too many I can tell you, then went out and bought some new stock, all the ones I didn't want I gave away to a guy that is trying to established, in fact they went to their new home this afternoon. I am going out again this weekend to get a couple more cocks and that should do me for a while, unless I see one I like ;D. John

I've got a few lots of babies myself at the moment. The rain must have given them a shove. My show budgies are breeding again so I'm excited about that. Last time they had some really interesting colours.

Well all is going well with the budgies they are all pairing up AND mating, I have three babies and they were from my original stock.
There is no doubt budgies are interesting little critters the pair that bred the 3 young, the male is a yellow face blue and then the hen is just a plain old green and budgie, the babies are one yellow faced blue, one gray and blue and one that is still colouring up but looks like it will be a white face blue.
