Visiting my parents down the south coast of NSW and there are plenty of birds in these parts here is what has come for a visit in their backyard - King Parrots - Rainbow Lorikeets - Cockatoo (black and white) - Red Browed finch - Crimson Rosella's - Galahs - among others They have a bird feeder set up what do you have in your backyard?

well at the moment we have a family of red tail black cockatoos.......they visit this time of year every year. Sulfer crested 'toos, corellas, heaps and heaps of galahs, some pale headed rosellas, lorikeets, wild finches, magpies, pee wees, crows, sparrows (getting desperate now hey lol)..........there are others too but they are the main ones.......plus heaps of kangaroos out the back.

we have unbelievable numbers of galahs and 'toos (sulfer crests and RTB), corellas, pale head rosellsa, rainbow and scaley brest lorrikeets, a pair of king parrots, magpies, peewees, willy wagtails, blue rens who live in the box thorns, numerous types of finches, 'tiels, assorted pigeons and then we start on the not so wanted ones like the indian minors and butcher birds etc but we wont mention those ones

At my place we get red tailed and white tailed black cockatoos, galahs, 28s, western rosellas, red capped parrots,, willy wagtails, crows, magpies, kookaburras, pee wees, red wattlebirds, new holland honeyeaters ummm thats all I can think of. At my fella's farm we get all of those plus scarlet robins, golden whistlers, splendid fairy wrens, goshawks , tawny frogmouths, boobook owls, barking owls, barn owls, masked owls, elegant parrots, flycatchers, silvereyes and so many more that I can't think of.

Well I in the middle of suburbia but I get: rainbows, corellas, sulfurs, galahs, blue streaked honey eaters, spotted turtle necks doves, green grass finches, crested pigeons, pale faced rosellas and horrible mynas.

At my place l get Macaw's Just kidding Lorikeet's : Rainbow and Musk Wattlebird's : Red and Brown Magpie's feathered..?? Butcherbird Silvereye's Brown Thornbill's Turtledoves Starlings Blackbirds Sparrows Indian Myna's Songthrush (seasonal ) Galah's (seasonal ) Black Pacific Duck's (seasonal ) Goshawk!! (seasonal )

At my place we get Yellow rosellas, Regent parrots, Red rumps, white cockatoos, galahs, corellas, wattle birds, brown goshawks, magpies, plumed honey eaters, silver eyes, crested pigeons, sparrows, starlings, mulga parrots, Blue wrens, black faced cuckoo strikes, boobook owls, major mitchell cockatoos, mallee ringnecks, musk lorrikeet, whistling kites, white-breasted sea eagles, black swans and many other water birds that thrive in the lagoon across the road. There is just too many to list, lol

My mum has the same as yours wilsta but she gets emu's in the front yard lol.
I get butcher birds, maggies, crows, noisy minors, indian minors (yuck), rainbow lorikeets, rosellas (a few kinds), fig birds, some hawk eagle thing?, cockatoo's, galahs, tawny frogmouths, coucal pheasants, and some others.

Gee, if I had to count the amount of different birds that come to my front yard, back yard and all around the house area, I would be here all day. I am lucky enough to live in paradise, just haven't seen a macaw and anything quite that big yet.

In my yard, in the suburbs of Sydney we see:
Cockatoos Magpies Pee Wees Red Rumps the odd Eastern Rosella Currawongs Plovers Rainbow Lorikeets Little Lorikeets Scaly breasted Lorikeets Musk Lorikeets Doves Topknot doves And I saw an Owl one night on my clothes line.

You guy dont need to keep birds with lists like that already in your back yards, i heard theres a guy in queensland breeding r.t blacks in hope of being able to export does anyone think this will be sucessful?

No. not in the short term anyway. The breeder was in the Northern Territory, and h ehad permission to take some RTB's from the wild to form his breeding stock. That was some years ago. A Senate Committee looked at the export of captive bred birds and other animals in the late 1990's and did make some favourable recommendations, but nothing came of it. As far as I know there are no efforts being made at the moment to lobby government to set up an export scheme. cheers. Mike

oh you are all so lucky to get such beautiful birds.. i live really close to the city so i get seagulls and lorikeets.. and of course magpies, crows, all of those types of birds..
