Does anyone know where I can get a perch for the shower. I've seen them on the net in other countries. They have suction caps on them to attach to the shower wall. This would be ideal because the only time my bird likes to bath is when I'm showering & it's always on my head.

Kim you have to be careful with them the suction caps can loss there suction then the bird will fall. You have to make sure the bird isn't to heavy cause if the bird is the suction caps can loss there grip and slide down which will scare the bird.

Yep the suction caps on them are pretty big from what I've seen so far. My bird is also very light but thanks I will keep an eye on it if I manage to find one. Wouldn't want to scare him, he'll never forgive me!

I dont think they would be that hard to make one your self..You can use pvc piping..and I have seen some that hook over the door...So that type one would be very safe...Just a through..But you would have to watch what the surface is that your bird will be perching on..You would not want him to slip...

Kim Pet City at Wishart in Brisbane sells the shower perches, they are a bit pricey.

Well this morning Cricket decided he was going to have a bath on my head while I was showering & refused to get off!! So...I've come up with a solution. I bought a toilet plunger & boy does it stick to the walls! So tomorrow i'll give it a go. The stick part of it is about the right size & plastic. Crickets starting to drive me nuts in the shower! But also funny, He got himself so wet he could barely fly. hehe And that's the first real bath he's given himself. He's a real toughy when it comes to everything but bathing.

lol I can just see that ...You will have to see what happen when the plunger get wets..It may not stick all that well...You mite have to make that plastic rough for him to be able to stay on it..You could use some very rough sand paper..That could work..Or wrap the perch up with some toweling..But you would have to wash and dry it every day..It would go moldy..

Yep did try wet & still sticks very well. And perch to sit on already rough :-) fixed that :-) You would probably have to clean any shower perch each day but that doesn't bother me. I think all I have to do now is see if he'll use it

I'm in Perth so I'm not sure you can even get them here. The things you can get here are very expensive so I usually order from the eastern states somewhere... Look what i found on my lawn the other day brown goshawk

I made my shower perch. I live in central queensland and we go to Brisbane fairly regular because one of our daughters plays elite volleyball and she goes there for trials and practice and comps etc. Anyway while in Upper Mt Gravatt we went to the wishart petstore (Pet City) and i saw those shower perches for $60. I had a good look and decided I could make one cheaper. Mine cost 27 dollars. I got big suction cups that you actually have to press a hook down for strong suction and I hang the perch from that. Have a look at my website at the "birds" page, i have pics in there of it. I have changed the suction cups since the photo and put the strong hook ones on because the others (in pics) would not stay on. I bought the hook suction cups from "sollies" or the "warehouse" for about $2 for a pack of 4 (I think there were 4, there were a few anyway).

A good, cheap idea would be to purchase a shower caddy from Target or a hardware store. You can get them with hooks to hang over the wall and you could then bring some of the bird toys to the shower to keep him occupied if he decides he doesn't want a shower. Another idea is a towel rack, I think you can get them with suction caps. It would be a shame to screw them into the wall - particularly if you need to clean them lol. Chloe

I saw some shower perches really good ones at Pet City in Wishart in Brisbane. They are around $60/70, which was too expensive for me so I had a go at making one myself. It cost me about $30 to make. Skye sings loudly when in the shower but seems to not really enjoy it as much as when I put her on the verandah and hose her off. I bought a pack of 6 (I think) large suction cups for about $2 and use 4 of them. They actually have clips on them that go around the poly pipe but also push the suction cups hard onto the shower wall. These have been put on since this photo as the smaller ones were not very good. I also put strapping tape around the perch for much better grip and then I just cut it off when it is too old.
