About Pip well he is my one and only Pet Cockatiel which i own out of aviaries full but this guy is very unique!.. well to himself coz you see Pip is Gay.When he was introduced to my family not long after my eldest son was born approx12-13 yrs ago who was to know that he would mature into a loving family pet that was chewing everything in the house in sight. As i didn't have the heart to clip his wings it was fast approaching time where Pip had to go outside. So thats where this little story begins because once Ibuilt this big aviary Pip looked very lonesome and was always calling for us his screaches were heard a long way! Feeling sorry for him we thought it was time for Pip to have a companion knowing fully the risk of losing him as a pet.Well were we wrong about that his new friend was a beautifull Lutino hen who followed him everywhere for no result,he didn't want her or be anywhere next to her.Ok now we have a female who wants to breed but a male that didn't care so we had to buy Amale for the new hen a lovely big Cinnamon cock that took my fancy from a local breeder.Once Dovey (male) was introduced to Lovey (hen) Pip started to show a side of him that we didn't know he had such as the raising of the wings in courtship and the singing that follows a mating ritual and all that Cockatielish bonding stuff. The only problem was that Pip was courting the male Dovey instead of the hen Lovey!Watching him closely for a few days as not to bother the pair which had now bonded, Pip had kept interfering with them until Lovey and Dovey both gave up and let Pip share in their activities, these include entering the nestbox and ultimately sharing the incubation and rearing of the new babies. He had turned out to be a great dad howver all this was for the sake of hanging around his best mate Dovey. Ok so the time came when Dovey had to go being a serious feather plucker a trait i will not tolerate Dovey was sent to a new home where his time was spent as an aviary bird and not a breeder, meanwhile after a few days fretting for his mate to come back Pip had finally realised that he was gone and won't be coming back! This was a blessing because as it turned out Pip had bonded to Lovey, and in the process of wanting to breed again Dovey did all the maternal things for Pip including Bobbing down low inviting him to jump on and mate. As the session grew intense i had to laugh my head off because at this stage Pip was now mounting her shoulder then her head then was totally back to front facing the other way and put up quite a display he was ready for a lay back and a smoke if you know what i mean. the eggs were infertile so i let them go thru the process of incubating and ultimately placing fertile eggs under them from another pair of which the flock had grown.Pip once again did well as a dad but couldn't help notice his intent was always to hang aroud other males. One day Lovey had passed away old age i presumed and Pip was in mourning again so it was time to bring him back into the house and keep him happy. As the years went by the flock had increased and more aviaries went up the introduction of Platinums was well under way and Pip was continually screaming every time he heard one of the flock, running out of patience it was time to return Pip back to the flight aviary what abig mistake that was as some of the seosons resting males were kept in this avairy and Pip had decided that Pluto a beautiful big great looking Whitefaced Platinum was going to be his mate. After all the twitering and chattering you guessed it Pip had converted Pluto and now i had to contend with 2 gay Cockatiels, although the only good that did come out of it was that Pluto was now very tame and followed Pip everywhere except for when he landed on my shoulder. The time had come for Pluto to breed and having try to seperate him from Pip to another aviary was hell for me my family and my neighbours as Pip and Pluto let it be known very loudly that as long as they could hear each other there was no way they would stop calling for each other.I put up with having to put the 2 back together again and resigned to the fact there was no way i could breed with Pluto again for as long as Pip was still breathing! One day surfing thru the adds for Cockatiels i noticed a add from a lady who was desperately searching for a Wface Platinum male that was semi tamed perfect scenario! Thru many antagonising thoughts i knew the time had come for Pluto to move on and be a dad again something i knew he was very good at so i sold him to Karen (N.E Tiels) a member on this forum who had a beautiful Platinum Pearl hen that was tame her name was Zack she and Pluto hit it off at my place i'm pretty sure his antics on the wire were very noticeable towards Zack.It was now time to dred was going to happen as Pluto needed to be caught and sent to his new home 2hrs drive away with Karen and Zack, you wouldn't beleive what happened next as i entered the aviary Pip landed on my shoulder with Pluto in close proximity all the others scattered at the sight of the net and as if to rub salt into the womb of parting with Pluto he too in front of his new owner landed for the first time on my shoulder with Pip. Anyway it was needless to say that a few tears were shed after Pluto's departure but the comforting thought was that i knew he was going to a good home and that his gay antics were over!Pip screamed for the next 2 days and i felt terrible over what i had done but as it turned out Pip has a new friend you guessed my next best male tiel and Pluto is a happy dad with Zack cheers and Thanx for reading my story Frank

ROFLOL ;D Frank, that's the funniest bird story I've ever heard! Pip sure sounds like a very.... interesting fella, to say the least. I love the part about him 'mating' with the hen's head, shoulder etc., that musta been an hilarious sight to behold...hehe I have one male cockatiel who shares the aviary with two other couples. He just rides around on my shoulder whenever I go in there. He's now taken to perching on my butt when I bend over to clean the floor! He's one silly bird....but I don't think he's gay. Well then again, I haven't asked him either! Keep the stories coming Frank. This ones a laugh! ;D

Hi lin and beachbird he is quite a character I have the same problems as Anna and that is if he is moved or one of his gay friends gets placed with a hen he goes very loud and takes it out on me LOL ;D Now he is attached to 2 of my best males of which one was a fantastic father but since he became attached to pip mind you this happened whilst he had a mate that was bonded and had young in the nest in a seperate cage he would do all his duties raising the young but in between breaks he fly up and back to the perch to see what pip what up to, then i noticed he started to pluck his partners head chronically and the young all along being frustrated. Strange thing is since i placed him in the open flight with Pip they prune each other without a single feather out of place they make me laugh the way they follow each other around all 3 of them doing the wing shake thing that males do fairdinkum all they need now is a park to hang around lol! Sounds like Pip is one sexy male, seeing as he keeps turning all these straight males gay lol. And what good taste Pip has - he only seems to go for your best breeding stock lol! What a shame I'm so far away, I'd love to take him and provide him with a boyfriend all of his own!

I had a new additon to my avairy going for another male, so I had to remove the target. He is now back to normal and chasing a female again. It's a bit annoying though isn't it, when they won't pair up!!!!
