It was one of those moments where I wish I had the video camera.
I was walking past the avairy when I noticed my lutino hen 'standing' for a male. The only problem was, the one she wants is married! On the other side of her was the single male who's been trying to win her attention. Anyway, the married man won and got on. While they were busy, single man was preening her, like begging her to look his way. Married man's mate is on the other side of the avairy skwarking her head off at her unfaithful husband. While all this commotion is happening, the (boy)budgie who follows single man like a bad smell, hopped on his back and tried to mate with him!
What a sight-what a crack up!!!!

Hi Jacqui, I would say budgies have to be so promiscuous. I caught one of my married budgies trying to mate one of my female tiels while his wife looked on in my communal aviary. The wife was not impressed but the one good thing that came out of it is at least I know now that my platinum pied tiel is a female now and I can pair her up to my w/face split for platinum and pied. I must admit it is so funny to watch a budgie trying to mate a tiel with the size difference. ;D ;D Cheers Anna

I remember a couple of times when I used to have the a cock would be mateing with a hen and another cock would jump on top and try and join in, the poor hen would get a bit cranky, after all, she was being squashed by two cockbirds, then the two males would have a bit of a tiff, they're funny little souls.
