Have found a young pidgeon just round the corner from my place today....darn Jane is passing her bird finding bug around.
Anyway it is leg rung so if someone can help with a pidgeon club near Chester Hill so I can get him home that would be great....he'll be 2 big for the finch/canary aviary LOL.

I had two pidgions given to me by a vet some years ago and i put them in my budgie aviary, one eventually died but the other one is still living in there as happy as Larry he doesn't worry the budgies and the budgies don't worry him.

I have a spotted turtle dove in my big aviary, he fell out of a nest in my backyard 2 years ago so I had to handfeed him. He doesn't cause any dramas but the poor fellow is constantly chased by male budgies who do you know what to him all day, sometimes 2 at once . I have plently of girl budgies but they seem to like the dove more. The other day I actually saw the dove (Beaky) grooming a cockatiel, my birds are a bit mixed up I'm afraid.

OK sucker that I am! Pigeon fanciers club contacted and they couldn't find the owner of this guy. Well he/she has now been in the aviary with the finches, doves and canary juv's for a week and whilst they smaller birds get a bit of a fright still when it flys from ground to perch and vice versa there seems to be no ill effect and all are getting on ok. Must be all that "huge quail" training I put them through with the chooks . Anyway have named the begger "Piggy"...as I can't recall the pigeon's name that was in the cartoon with Mutley and Dick Dasterdly, even if it had one and I don't know of any famous pigeons....ahhh if I knew its sex I could call it Walter!!!

You could call him Glenn after Glenn McGrath his nickname was Pidgeon, and before you ask Tracey he is a cricketer too who has just retired and possibly our finest fast bowler in the last 30 years ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D.
