I have just recently put a pair of my canaries in a large cage in the hopes of possibly breeding them. They have high food dishes and I placed a basket in the cage up higher than most of the perches and some nesting material on the floor for them to make a nest. Since they have been living in this cage they havent used the nesting material only chewed it and the hen sleeps in the seed dish! She sleeps their all night with her little head in her feathers and everything. Should I just move the seed dish and put a clean dish in that spot with nesting material in it for her instead? Does the male make the nest? If so I'll get nothing out of them he just is not at all interested.
