Ok, last Sunday i was supposed to buy an Albino Mask Lovebird and ended up coing home with an additional 2 Peachface Lovebirds. I decided to refuse getting help from Polly because i thought i had the situation under control but i guess i was wrong. Yesterday (Sunday) i was going to buy another Albino Mask Lovebird and ended up coming home with a pair of Indian Ringnecks as well. The new Albino Cock with a Parino Split Lutino Hen i bred last year Pastel Skyblue Cock Silver Hen The Cock has very strong pastel markings

I reckon that by now, a few of us (who shall remain nameless ) deserve to get 'mate's rates' at the local hardware store on aviary material and the like. (Not that I'd come into that catagory of course!!) ;D

Interesting to look at your photo of the pastel skyblue cock, I've just bought a skyblue hen, she is about 5mths old, The breeder told me she was possibly a pastel but I wouldn't know till after the moult, she looks just like a normal sky blue to me, but today I was looking at her and she has got 4 or 5 greenish feathers on her shoulders between the wings, does anyone know much about pastel skyblue? I'm getting slightly hopefull here, but I've never had a skyblue before so do some of them get greenish feathers?

Kim you have got yourself a Pastel Skyblue alright. The Pastel gene brings in green/yellow feathers

LOL it should have read "oops I did it again" LOL. You did well. Originally only going to buy one bird? ? How many did you buy? ? Good job. Hey I am showing my ignorance or lack of knowledge but what is the difference between a "mutation" and a "hybrid". I am guessing a hybrid might be bred with a ringneck to get the colouring? And a mutation is something that happens naturally and is bred back again to it's own breed (maybe another mutation) to keep the colour...............or am I totally off the beaten track. By the way, it was a good site to look at also.
