I have just bought my first pair of peach face, a nice pied hen and a very pretty olive cock bird. The first of many i hope. I almost weakened and got a very nice pied Fischer, which i have never seen before and i have have bred Fischer love birds for years until recently. I am reliably informed that the two i have are male and female so we will see what happens. What type of nesting material do you use Jeremy for your peach face. I used to use palm fonds for my Fischer's and had a great deal of success but i understand peachies don't build very elaborate nest so what do you suggest. Also what would you say that this pairing would give me in colours, providing they are not split would I be right in saying I would get olive pieds.

I use wood shavings, paper bark, and cardboard tubes. The Peachies do make big nests, just not as skillful as the Masks or Fischers. I would have to see a picture of them first John, if it is a Green Pied and an Olive, you would get Jade and Jade pied, but like said, i will need pics to confirm what they really are.
Pied Fischers would be extremely expensive i imagine, i know there are supposed to be a few breeders in Sydney breeding Pied Masks but it has taken them a long time. Whether or not the Pied Fischers were the result of hybridisation is another story. Either way, it must have been a very nice bird.

Yes Jeremy it is a green pied and an olive i picked them purposely for their colour, Ill post pictures soon just to confirm it with you. Funny as it would seem the pied Fischer's were only $40 each which i thought was very cheap I was very tempted to be honest with you he has about 40 of them in one aviary.
With the nesting material I am using, as you said wood shavings, and ill add some paper bark to the nest, do you just put sheets of it in the aviary and let them tear it up or do you add it directly to the nest and what about the cardboard do they tear it up, thanks for the information.

I put wood shaving in the nestbox, and scatter paper bark on the bottom of the aviary. I have cardboard tubes which i hang up with chain and they tear strips off it. It is reasonable hard to find, they are very thick tubes and unlike tubes from glad wrap, toilet roles etc, they contain no glue or lead/zinc so they are completely safe for birds. $40 for a Pied Fischer Can you send me some contact details of this man? I am waiting in anticipation for the photos ;D
