Hi guys,
Now that I have introduced myself (finally), I though I would introduce my feathered family. Sorry I don't have any pictures sorted out yet - but don't worry...they'll come.
Alex - my first Alexandrine who is nearly 14 years old. He is such a sweetie. He was handraised by me alongside a Scaly-breasted lorikeet, and as such has always had a soft spot for lorikeets since then (or maybe it is the sweet lorikeet food that he really likes ).
Buster - Alex's girldfriend, who is about 12 years old. I think she had some calcium problems as a chick, and as such she has some deformities in her feet. Alex however is absolutely devoted to her.
Bambino - their first baby that I had to raise from the word go (I think that Bussy and Alex were rather surprised at having a chick that appeared out of an egg...and as such didn't know what to do with it ). Bambi is 9 years old. Due to an accident last year, he lost a foot (vet treatment is still on going nearly a year later!)
Dori and Jade - these are Alex and Bussy's next two babies and both are 8 years old. Although I love them to bits, I'm afraid that there is nothing terribly spectacular about these two - just part of the family.
Bella and Baby Bell - both 4 year old lutino Alex's. I think that dad posted some pictures of these two already in another thread.
Hoggle - this is the only 'non-Bussy-Alex' alexandrine that I have. He is also 4 years old. He had splayed legs when he was a chick. This was caught and corrected early on, but his leg still tends to 'dislocate' every now and then. Hoggle is kind-of paired up with Bella, but unfortunately for Bella, he has absolutely no clue as to what a male alexandrine should be doing
Pippi - is the Plum Head Parrot. She is about 15 years old (I think). She gets on well with the alex's - and as with all female asiatics, she is very strong willed and confident
So these are my guys. All are very tame and very much part of the family. And although it can get deafening at my place at times (I think I have very tolerant neighbours , I absolutely love them.
Alexandrines definately are the best (...or maybe I'm just a bit biased .
Cheers, Bec
