My confession:
I walked in to a speciality bird-store last weekend and realised thet Elmo (my 18- month old Jenday Conure) had at least one of every single bird toy sold there.
I have a couple of 100L plastic containers filled with toys - which get rotated regularily. (Yes - this is just for ONE parrot)
The pleasure i get from watching Elmo play is simply unmeasurable by monetary figures.
I am completely and hopelessly addicted to buying bird toys.
I just found a heap of toys at the Friendly Bird Inn which Elmo doesn't have - so what did i do? Buy them all..
I think this can only be understood by someone with Fids - Elmo is simply my heart with wings.

Morning Purdey, I'm Lisa and I own Friendly Bird Inn and i would like to say a big thank you once again for your order I'm also addicted to bird toys and cages hehehehe that is probably the main reason i started my online shop with toys ... with reasonable price tags (i hope) I have just placed a new toy order with my supplier yesterday so keep an eye out within the next 2 weeks as i have purchased some different toys this time around. Elmo is one lucky little birdie to have you as a birdie mum *Lisa* PS. I just did the wrong karma button on you so now its -1 but i'll pm a mod and hopefully they can fix it up ... SOrrry

Hmm I wish I could say the same - unfortunately the range up here is somewhat limited. It mostly consists of five or so toys in different sizes. They're good toys, but a wider range would be nice. There's more budgie toys, but they're ones that aren't suitable for Trouble (he could break them and hurt himself) and my budgies wouldn't use them. They've just gotten in a few foraging toys that I'm looking to acquire over the next few weeks, and we'll see how Trouble goes with those. Once I've gotten them I'm probably going to order a bunch of toy parts and try my hand at making them. Also Lisa - I have to do an assignment where we essentially have to come up with a plan to start a business and I was thinking along the lines of an e-business selling toys and cages. Are there any national laws etc that you have to deal with? /picks brain!

Toys toys toys *evil grins* Love 'em!
Elmo taught *himself* a new trick this morning - take a foot toy from me - turn around while holding it in his beak and then drop it back in my hand!
would you mind sending me a message when your new stock comes in Lisa?

I agree some baby toys are great ... tho i have found most have rubber bits on them that eckies for 1 can pull off into nice little bits .... also last week i thought one of my baby toys was hard enough for Jacko to play with ... and well this is what a Red Tail black Cockatoo can do to a baby toy he chewed all the little ring bits clean off

yes I have found you do have to discriminate when buying baby toys......but you can get some great bargains. lol I have more trouble with Takoda chewing and destroying a toy than I had with Skye.......but all birds are different ;D

wow - and i thought Elmo had a beak on him! i wouldn't even know where to start looking for secondhand baby toys - the salvos? i don't have any friends with babies yet and Elmo is the only baby in my life! would be good to get him some hanging rattles though - like all conures he *loves* noisy toys but managed to give himself metal poisioning once by eating the 'donger' from a metal bell *siiigh* i do have the 'bulletproof' blue bell which is much loved (and much beaten up on!) but i have to be very careful to remove all the chewable bells from any new toys i buy ..

Yes I love to go "second hand shopping" for me and my "family" and I also had some baby toys left over from when my youngest (Caillean) was a baby. I figured even if it gets broken in a short time........it didn't cost too much money to start with and they obviously had a great time destroying it.
I also bought a fischer price mobile phone for toddlers or babies.........Takoda loves it ;D Skye was like .......... "meh" lol
Oh and garage sales too........ ;D
I always soak mine in hot soapy water and give them a good wash and clean before letting the birds have them,

Ahhhh my fiances family has all moved down there ... and we have been offered a free place to live .. and an easy move ... so we thought what the hell We were planning on it but not for another 5 years or so ... but when things are offered to make it wayyy easy ... we realised there was nothing really keeping us in sydney besides work and business .... And the cold ... we dont mind ... we love the snow etc ... hopefully the birds will feel the same way ... tho i am planning ahead and i'm going to take some of that heating cord and stuff just incase
