Hey everyone, Just wondering if anyone has had any experiance with Superb parrots? Three times now I have found my hen trying to get under the tree stump/loggy thing that I have on the floor for the quails. Now I have both A Guide to Long & Broad Tailed Parrots and Australian Coral Billed Parrots and neither mention this behaviour for a superb parrot They say King Parrots are known for nesting on the ground but never Superbs. They have a 60 x 30 x 30 upright box, which is being ignored so far as I can tell. I might get another Z box and hang that on the other side. Any ideas? Cheers.

I have just purchased a very young pair, so mine will not be looking to breed at all this year. But I will be keen to read this when people reply, I am on the lookout for clues to making these beautiful birds happy. Good luck with yours, hope all goes well.
My husband suggested a hanging log would be the go. Hang it at a slight angle or even upright. About 600-800mm deep.

Thanks Ellen I have seen some lovely proper log boxes at places I have been, but I can never find any in our paddocks and then there's the 'taking wild birds nesting places' dilemma thing too Maybe I could compromise with a log entry spout

I hear what you are saying. Whilst driving around the dam here, we are both always looking up at the trees looking for holes in logs, we can sit for hours watching and waiting for something to come out. We get really disgusted when people cut trees down and ruin the natural run of things for birds. There is enough timber down on the ground without cutting any down, but some people get a kick out of cutting things down. I'm not trying to sound like a greenie, it is mostly because the trees that they are cutting down are dead, but what they don't realise is that there is LIFE inside those trees - i.e. birds.
