LOL yeah it makes me all gooey too! I'm going to have to buy more leg rings at the rate this girl is breeding! Alas, I won't let her breed anymore this season, 7 chicks is enough. I'll just have to addle any new eggs she lays. The last egg didn't hatch, fortunately it wasn't fertile. I will leave it in there until Saturday though so the bubs can lean on it if they don't feel like leaning on each other. Funny, in the picture you see the 4 bubs but when I opened the box I could only see 3, then I saw both ends bobbing and weaving! hehe moved them apart and by the time I'd gotten the camera ready they'd raced back to each other again! Took me 4 goes to get that shot.

That is sad that you lost one The other three seem to be thriving. My little hen is sitting tight on her two, she only laid three eggs so I am pretty happy with her.

They are such pretty birds with all that pink on them. I wonder what the boys think about being such a "girly" colouring

They make the one of the greatest pet birds. Our little Musky man can whistle so many different tunes. He never seems to stop learning. He has outlived two girls and we have just bought him his third. Even though we put him out in the aviary in summer and we bring him inside for the winter months, he remains very loving and very bonded to us. He has given us many young in the past, and he teaches all his babies how to whistle his tunes. They are such pretty birds with all that pink on them. I wonder what the boys think about being such a "girly" colouring They are pretty in pink that is for sure! It doesn't seem to affect my little fella, he is quite tickled when he sees his own reflection in the mirror.

Thanks all! I had a scare today. The eldest 2 decided it was time to fledge - too young in my opinion! Silverbeet can be dangerous! The one with only small blue on rump - got tangled up in the dried silverbeet that wasn't consumed! I usually give them a full piece and it must become like string when it dries, the little one had it wrapped around it's foot and leg about 6 times and rather tight too. Lucky I check on them a number of times a day else he could have lost the foot! It was painful for the little one getting it off and I was as gentle as I could be considering I was nearly panicking. Got it off after a few minutes and I've vowed not to ever give them a full leaf again, I will chop it in future. Here is the 2 eldest after the "rescue": Here is little Floyd, I took him yesterday to finish rearing - I got myself a heat mat and thermometre and wanted to check them out. "He's" taken to the spoon rather well.

Floyd, just love the name. It must be quite an honour to have "Pink Floyd" at your house.

LOL yep! The name just came to me after I'd been calling "him" Donny for a day. Reckon it's a perfect fit.

LOL Luisa, mine are randy little buggers and I had to remove the nest box so the hen didn't breed herself to death. I've still got all the baby bourke's. I made the mistake of putting them in a cage next to a cage of budgies and baby bourke's being the stupid things they are would not keep off the wire. The budgies have either chewed or pulled all the young bourke's tail feathers. No one wants to buy or swap a bourke looking as awful as these at the moment. Next time I'll know not to do that.
