Hi Jo-Anne sounds like your aviary has the perfect sub-base for a scoria flooring as it provides natural drainage to wash thru poops every now and them.Just be cautious with the exposed top and wild birds pooping thru as i noticed in one of your posts you mentioned doves which are always high on the worm carrying disease list cheers Frank

Thanks for the idea Frank. I am putting brickies sand in the gaps of the pavers to stop all the little nasties, but the scoria sounds like a great idea.
Plus, the fact your birds are living proof that it works, and works very well.
