Just wanted to share my good news my first baby gouldies came out of the nest yesterday! After a disheartning start to keeping gouldies, I have finally got some little ones and to add to the excitment there is noises coming from the nest the other pair are using so crossed fingers I get some from them too.

They have all finally came out of the nest today. A total of 6 to my surprise I thought there was only 2 or 3 as that is number of heads I had seen at one time. Still lots of noise coming from the other nest i look forward to seeing what emerges from there.

Great news on the Gouldies! Well done mate. Are they parent reared or have they been fostered? What type are they? I only keep the black headed mutations. I have two pairs - 1 pr are sitting / the other pr are nest building. Spring is a great time for our birds overhere in England. Keep up the good work! Lets see some photo's.....

Great news - your new little babes must be adorable - plain at the moment, but what a result when they colour up! I find that very attracting - I love the wait - and then I love the surprise.

Hi guys They're all parent reared, really good mum and dad. I kind of peaked through the hole of the other nest and I saw 3 mouths so could be a few more to come. I hope to get some pairs out of the young as none of the parents are related ( all come from different breeders). I was suprized they had so many this being their first time breeding together. Don't know if they have breed in the past though. Not good with the photo up load will have a go when I get time to sit and really think about it.

Lovely to see that the bubs are going well. Good too that the parents are doing well as mum and dad. Some people are against fostering, because bubs lose the skill to be good parents themselves. from Robert and Precious

I would love to see photos. Is it late for finches or do they breed all year like budgies?

I'll get some pics up soon. Mums a red head dads a yellow head and the other pr with young still in the nest, dads a red head and mums a black head. I assume they breed through spring and autumn but this is the first time I have bred them. Im not one to foster or muck around like that they have to be able to take care of their own. Its like the silver quails people take the dads out from fear that they will kill the chick but in my opinion the chick do better if they are raised by both parents . I think that good parents breed good parents.
