I was wondering if anyone breeds Rock Parrots in captivity. I sure do love this little neophema. I spent one whole morning in South Western Aus filming them around Christmas of this year. I know I never get tired of looking at images of neophemas and thought I would share a couple from my video footage of them. Hopefully I am not snowing the forum with too many pictures. I just love chatting about your fantastic parrots. What a dream of a country you have folks! So many beautiful things to look at! Here is "Rocky" and so photogenic I think... More pics on my blog of course... polytelismedia.wordpress.com/

Awsome pics! Rock parrots are bred here in captivity. They are the most expensive neophema so I dont think they are bred in great numbers though.

I can't remember what I've seen them going for but I do remember that at the time thinking I'll stick to my Elegants.

I can't remember what I've seen them going for but I do remember that at the time thinking I'll stick to my Elegants. Last I heard they were around $500 a pair. I've only ever seen them once in an aviary. On an aviary tour associated with the Grafton Parrot Convention in about 2001 I think. One aviculturist we visited had a colony of around 12 or 15 in a very large flight - well set up with a rockery for them to use and he had moderate success breeding them. cheers, Mike

Parrot society of Australia has them at $475 a pair. Have only heard of one breeder who has them down this way. Dont hear of them often. Shaun

I was speaking to a guy on the other side of town from where i am as i am getting yellow vented bluebonnets off him and he was saying he has a couple of pair and that he sells them for $260 a pair. He also was saying that he breeds them in no different way than the other neophemas so i am thinking when he has some young i may purchase a pair and see how i go.
