Some birds are cheap by Oz standards, but $700 for a pair of King parrots and $3000 for a Galah wow. I have them come into my backyard for seed LOL.

I don't own any king parrots officially, but plenty of free loaders at my place. Here is Chuckles enjoying a mans company What you can't see in the picture, is me holding her lead from her harness holding her back far enough away from the male. She was ready to eat him!

Galahs are slowly coming down in price as they are prolific breeders but greys are going up a bit due to no more wild imports into the uk. How much do you pay for greys in oz?

Mmm, if only I could sell of something. I really like the look of the greys. Their eyes just get me. They are so deep and meaningful when they look at you, and every grey I have met, always make eye contact directly. LOL J, no Chuckles isn't allowed to play with her food! And yes, it's a wild King Parrot. And yes, he could carry a disease. Geez, who knows, he might even have swine flu.

In the UK our Parrot rescue centres all seem to have unwanted African Greys. It's a real shame but before the import ban they were really cheap and everybody seemed to keep one as a pet, but now they all end up in rescue centres around the UK because people get fed up with them or out grow them. I don't keep parrots because I don't have the time to give them that they need. Alot of time is needed for Parrots that's why I keep finches they are alot easyier to keep healthy. I work all day so care for mine in the early mornings and late evenings.

That right steve, its not only greys but alot of toos and macaws too, i think we need to be more selective in what we breed, i wouldnt say parrots need a lot of time if you keep the amount you can manage without them becoming a burden rather than pleasure.
