baby birds of any kind.......well actually most birds in general might be a bit shy with someone they don't know. Ekkies have a reputation of being "shy, quiet, statue type birds".......trust me they are anything but that when they are in familiar surroundings.....and my female ekkie (Skye) was a social butterfly while she was a house pet.......she was anything but "shy". My young male ekkie (skye's first hatched chick) is a very playful boy........but he is standoffish with people he is not familiar with.
I paid $800 for both Skye and her husband Gunny......$800 each. I have heard the price seems to have dropped but maybe you need to look for a breeder in your area if you do decide to get one.......actually breeders are a lot cheaper than pet shops usually.

I agree with Van, most baby birds arent very playful especially around people they dont know.
We got chilli from Birdworld before we knew what kind of bad reputation they had and we paid $900 for him. I think Birds N All might be a bit cheaper im not sure..

Going rate seems to be about $700 for a cock and a bit less for a hen. I personally would sell for around that. I paid $500 each for two hens from a local breeder which I will pick up when they are self sufficient. Parent raised though, so usually a bit cheaper.

Welcome Emily, my middle name is Emily. We seem to be getting more members from WA. I wonder if there are more than from NSW? I used to be on Birdworld's forum - it was the first one I joined years ago. I didn't realise they had a bad reputation.

This thread is an introduction of Emily........not a thread on bad bird dealers. Welcome here Emily ;D and I hope you do enjoy being here ;D
Please everyone, keep this thread to welcoming Emily not "running down certain bird dealers".
Sorry guys I had to go to work this morning and was running very very late and the pc was on a "go slow" ........ I have deleted all posts that I considered "off topic" to this thread ....... sorry but it was getting totally off topic and out of hand.
It is now open again and please keep things on topic.
