Does anyone here no anyone that keeps the Ground Parrot. I was talking to a friend about these little birds who builds all my nest boxes and aviaries and a life member of the ASA and he said that in the early 1990s he went up to NSW and a gentlemen there had about 30 sitting in his kitchen in transport boxes to be released into large planted aviaries.
I just want to find out if anybody still keeps these birds as i want to learn more about them and prices and what sort of set-up you need for them.

Nah there are only roughly 150-300 in the wild and one of the only Aussie parrots besides the night parrot that is on the extinction list that build and have there young on the ground

I havent heard of any Damo, but it could be possible. Let us know how you go finding out. I would presume they would come at a high price if they were available. I would put my money on them bot being in aviaries though Damo.

I looked up my Encyclopedia and found the Ground Parrot. They are very rare apparently and come out at night to forage and feed their young. Sounds like they would need a well planted aviary if you could find a breeder. I'm sure they are out there somewhere in Oz.
