Hi i have an new zealand christmas tree right next to 1 of my suspended aviaries just wondering if anybody knows if it could be toxic to the birds?

Haha same neve put water on this 1 but it has got so massive. I wanted to put another aviary there but have to wait for a windy day so it can break . haha dad would not be happy at all it brings in wattle birds and lorikeets. That is the prettiest Christmas tree I've ever seen. You don't need to decorate that one!
I don't know about how toxic it would be to your birds - are you feeding it to them? My rule is..............IF IN DOUBT>>>>>DON"T!!!!!!!!!!

Nah its hanging over 1 of the suspendeds and i dont want to trim it back because if i do the tree will be gone And parents wont be happy LOL

I don't think that is what I have as mine is more of a shrub that seems to grow outwards not upwards. It is probably around 6 foot tall but about 8 foot (probably rounder) long. It does look similar though.

Damo i would think if the lorikeets are in the tree feeding it should be safe. I have tried to grow them up in Cairns, they don't do to good I have always been told to use only native branches & NONE with white sap. Robyn.

Same theroys as me Robyn, everthing with white white sap is a no no, except milk thistle it would seem.

Lovely flowers on the bush Damien, I guess as it isn't a native to Oz, it might not be safe, then again if the Wattlebirds and Lorikeets eat them it must be safe. Why not ring an Avian vet to make sure.
